As we dig and advance closer to the birch forest, we are not too sure where exactly the road should go! We go over to the other end of the future road and start digging from there so we can join both sections in the middle. To get a better view, we set up an immensely tall scaffolding tower in the plains!

Tomorrow we will be updating to 1.17! How exciting! We will likely pause the road project temporarily to look for new features.

The digging of the road is fast approaching the birch forest! We will need to decide on its exact geographical layout through the forest, ideally one that reduces the number of trees we need to cut down! After digging for a bit, we fly back up to the scaffolding tower to survey the area.

Even from the top of the tower, we can't see much because there are so many trees! Instead, we choose to take a walk through the forest to find the best route for the road to take. While trekking through the forest, we hear lava pops coming from underground!

We decide to dig down at the spot where we hear the loudest popping. Mining away the stone, we hear some bats as well which indicate the presence of an unlit cave! Once we find the lava lake, we leave it accessible to the surface by leaving behind a staircase, an entrance to the outside.

Sprinting over to the existing roads, we start digging out some space for a branch away from the main path. We trace out an edge of the road with some grass blocks to help us make the road look more smooth. We spot some bees near the trees that we had planted when we were building the road!

We wait for the bee to reenter the beehive, then pick it up before we sleep for the night. In the morning, we continue digging out the branch of road that will lead to the plains village! However, the land is sloped in the wrong direction so we have to dig out quite a bit of dirt and grass!

We fly up into the sky to get a bird's-eye view of the fork in the road. Then, we land at the storage chest at the edge of the forest to store away the spare blocks we have collected. We return to the site of the digging with more spruce logs, which we craft into spruce planks that are used for the foundation of the road!

While digging for the road, we find more obstacles in the way! Namely, a lake of water and another birch tree. We cover up the lake and chop down the tree. Afterwards, we pace back and forth along the road, trying to see whether the branching road is curving smoothly!

Soon, the sun sets and it is almost night! We place more dirt blocks in the lake before we put down our bed to sleep in it. When we wake up, we carry on with the digging and remove another birch tree next to the lake of water.

More spruce planks are placed to indicate where the slabs should be, because the road has to go up one block in height. We chop down our third birch tree and remove its leaves manually, since being connected to other trees, they would not decay by themselves! We plant down two birch saplings at a clearing in the forest, off the path of the road!

Finally, we cover up the entire lake of water before flying up to look at our progress. The bend of the road near the fork still looks a little sharp! In the birch forest, while walking over the path that the road would take, we hear many zombie noises near the underground lava lake we had found!

We dig down into the lava lake, converting the lava into obsidian. After mining out some more stone around the underground lake, we break into a small unlit cave with many zombies! They must have spawned when we were in the sky. We spend some time in the caves to light up the dark areas!

While we are covering up he hole we made in the ground, we hear a skeleton walking around! Deeper in the forest, we find an entrance to a cave, and we venture within to light it up. Apart from the skeleton, we also find a poor cow that managed to trap itself in the caves!

From another entrance to the caves, we fly back to the fork in the road. As we are reducing the sharpness of the bend, the sun begins to set! We take a quick nap to skip the night. When we are happy with the curvature of the road, we fly up to take another look.

Back at the top of our scaffolding tower, we notice that we cannot see the fork in the road! We decide to pick up more scaffolding from the mountain base to increase the height of the tower. Some exposed stone near the base of the tower sparks our curiosity and we dig around to see if there is yet another lava lake there!

Clearing out our inventory and Shulker box at the storage chest, we grab our rockets and make the flight back to the mountain base. At our storage room, we stock up on more rockets and also craft the scaffolding that we wanted. We add some height to the tower before ending the episode right at the top, where we can see the entire road leading to the plains village!
