Late-Game Minecraft 352 :: Making Cobbled Deepslate
Continuing our work on the mob farm entrance, today we convert several stacks of plain deepslate to cobbled deepslate! To make it easier for us, we build tall pillars of deepslate and mine them down with our Fortune III pickaxe. It is a little dangerous, but the view from the top is fantastic!
First, we build up a tower of deepslate up the entrance shaft to the mob farm! We toss some arrows into the river for disposal and empty our Shulker box. Mining down the deepslate, we collect more than a stack of cobbled deepslate! We trade with our villager to mend our pickaxe.
We place down some deepslate tiles before going up to the base! We store away our items and grow some rose bushes. Then, we breed the bees! We pick up some sea lanterns to light up the mob farm shafts. Down in the mob farm, we hear some slimes and break the wall to access the space behind!
After slaying the slimes, we go to bed. We fly outside to see if any mobs had spawned. Heading back down to the mob farm, we fill in the walls with polished deepslate and deepslate tiles! We place down a water source to help us move up and down. It seems like we need a lot more cobbled deepslate!
Trading with our villager, we accidentally toss some emeralds into the room! Our inventory is full, and we place some items on the ground temporarily. Afterwards, we build another deepslate column that goes up into the sky! From above, we can see our base and the docks clearly. Cool!
We begin to mine our way back down! It is a little scary being at the top of such a small pillar, even if we do have Feather Falling on our boots. Back at the mob farm, we hear a slime again! They are really starting to annoy us.
After crafting some slime blocks, we craft more polished deepslate and swim up the flowing water! We place down blocks and sea lanterns until we reach the top. Then, we do the same for the other shaft! We place down sea lanterns every 4 blocks.
Sleeping for the night, we reach the basement and find that the sea lanterns are not aligned! We head back down and see that we had placed a sea lantern too close to the previous one. We fix it before heading down to place more polished deepslate!
Two giant slimes have spawned in the mob farm! We did not intend our farm to be a slime farm as well, but it seems that we had built it in a slime chunk by accident! We trade with our villager and mend our tools. We get back to work, placing down the deepslate tiles for the other walls of the shafts!
We head over to our base where we craft some iron doors and a stone button! We place a door beside the block of soul sand, attempting to block off the water. Alas, we will need more building blocks to stop the water, because the door is too short!
Flying back to the deepslate base, we see a bee stuck behind a fence! We help out the bee and head indoors to pick up more blocks. Tinted glass seems like something we can use that fits the colour of the deepslate and allows us to see through into the shafts!
On our docks, we form more deepslate pillars to convert the blocks into cobbled deepslate! As the sun sets, we place down our bed to sleep before converting the rest of our deepslate. When we are finished, we fly back to the mob farm!
While trying to craft deepslate tiles, we craft our first deepslate bricks and unlock a few new crafting recipes! Nice! We take out more rotten flesh to trade with our villager for emeralds and redstone. We place down the tinted glass to get rid of the water, and we finally put down the stone button for the door!
Placing down two more deepslate tile blocks to conceal the mob farm completely, we step back and take a look at the entrance to the mob farm! The design looks alright to us, so we continue to build up the walls of the shafts with deepslate tiles.
While crafting deepslate tiles, we accidentally convert all of our cobbled deepslate to polished deepslate! Oops! We reach the top and place down some additional stone to fill up the space before working on the other shaft. We retrieve some deepslate from the base and some kelp from the ocean before ending the episode!
