Late-Game Minecraft 376 :: Mapping the Badlands
We spend the day flying around the new badlands that we had discovered! When we are done, we head back to the savannah base and check out the updated world map. We start to head towards the first badlands and the first jungle that we had found, so that we can generate those chunks too before updating our game!
Placing down our Shulker box, we store away our excess items like kelp and take out more rockets! Then, we begin to fly into the unmapped areas of the badlands. Seeing that some red sand has collapsed into a ravine, we head inside to investigate and find a few sticks!
While exploring new chunks, we find a river that cuts through the badlands, but it dries up in some places! If only we had found this biome in update 1.18, the river would likely be much wider. However, we have no idea at all what biomes will generate where in the new update!
After updating to Caves & Cliffs Part II, we would likely not be lucky enough to find another badlands since they are so rare, so we take the opportunity to generate as many chunks of the badlands as we can! We also fly over the ocean to the west to map it.
South of the badlands, there is a frozen ocean which is another rare biome! The badlands extend further to the east, but it is outside of the bounds of our map. We fly off the map, and land to sleep when we see the sun setting! The next day, we place down our cartography table to make a new map.
We make sure to keep a copy of every smaller map that we produce as we zoom out the map! Once we have the highest level of zoom, we place the map into our left hand and fly towards the border to link up the maps. We land at a savannah village to add it to the map!
Seems like the badlands are mostly bordered by the ocean! There is also a desert to the south. We fly around to fill in our map of the badlands! Then, we fly towards the north-west to return back to our world's spawn point and the inhabited area.
Landing on the farmhouse, we head inside, but we realise that all of our maps are still back at the savannah! We fly across the frozen ocean as the sun sets. We head to the bedroom and sleep with our cat! In the morning, we find a gift of a rabbit's foot on the ground floor.
We add the new map to the world map that we have laid our on the floor! Opening our inventory, we realise that our Elytra is almost broken! Oh no! After making copies of the new map, we craft a new chest to keep a copy in our base. We head outside to toss some arrows into lava!
Studying the entire map, we decide to go to the jungle next! We pick up all the maps of the flight path that we took and make some copies. Returning the maps to their original location, we pick up our Shulker boxes and prepare for the trip! We take an Ender chest with us just in case!
We clear our Shulker boxes of unnecessary items, keeping them in the chests! Downstairs, we smelt the kelp into dried kelp in our kitchen. Picking up the kelp from the furnaces has given us some experience to mend our Elytra, which is great!
To fully repair our Elytra, we decide to fly over to the desert market to trade with the villagers for experience! We use our emeralds to buy bottles of enchanting, which we can bring along with us to repair the Elytra in a pinch.
Anyway, since we are bringing an Ender chest with us, we are not too worried as we have a spare Elytra inside! The sun sets again, and we put down our white bed to sleep. Then, we fly towards the forest beach mansion, which is the westernmost base of our world!
We make copies of the maps that we had borrowed from the map room! Taking the copies with us, we see that our Elytra has lost some durability. We use a bottle of enchanting to restore it to full! After that, we begin on our journey to the jungle and the badlands to the north-west!
In the middle of a small ocean surrounded by a taiga forest, we land on a small island of sand where we find a wandering trader! We are quite sure that we have seen him before. We buy some of his items before ending the episode, since we have loads of emeralds!
