Finally, update 1.18 is out! We enter our world to find that deepslate has generated below our existing chunks! After organising our items and gathering some resources from our bases, we fly back to the 1.17 deepslate base. We keep all of our items in a chest before crossing the ocean to find new terrain!

Nothing seems to have changed in our savannah base after the update! We pick up a map and inspect it closely, but our maps are the same as well. Heading down into the mines, we go all the way down to the bedrock level and notice that it has all turned to deepslate!

While going down the stairs, we hear a spider in the walls, but when we go back up we no longer hear it! There must be some undiscovered caves in the area still. We return to our savannah base and dry more kelp in the furnaces!

Our Shulker boxes are still full of items from our mapping expedition! We convert some deepslate to cobbled deepslate before breaking bottles of enchanting to mend our tools. Then, we keep the blocks and items in our storage room, making sure that everything is still well organised!

The sun begins to set and we go downstairs to sleep with our pet cat! We get the cat off the bed before continuing to sort out the items. Since we had used up our name tag, we look through all of our chests for another one!

Beside our bed, we open the double chest and look through the limited-edition armour sets that we had created in version 1.14.2! Back then, it was possible to put different kinds of protection enchantments on a single piece of armour. We also look at the bow that we had used when we slew the Ender dragon!

Eventually, we find two name tags, but we decide not to use them as we realise that we can buy more from villagers! We head upstairs with a bunch of emeralds to buy one from our librarian. We also buy some glass! We rename the name tag on an anvil so that it is ready to be used at any moment.

We decide to keep the maps in the chest here as we will not need most of them! We sort the maps by their identification number and make a copy of the map of the 1.17 area. As we head out of our base, we see a wandering trader! We buy some dyes, flowers, and moss blocks.

Storing the items in our base, we pick up our white Shulker box and head to the mountain base! From the iron farm, we pick up some poppies. At the trading hall, we craft some bread for the villagers! We watch them closely as hearts appear.

The villagers are going to sleep, and we sell some items before sleeping ourselves! The next day, we see that a new villager child has appeared. We head up to the storage room to keep away our spare firework rockets! Then, we head to the trading hall again for more emeralds, empty maps, and golden carrots.

We give the villagers more loaves of bread, but they are not breeding any more! Angry particles appear above their heads. Oh well! The population of villagers is large enough! We leave the mountain base and start flying towards the 1.17 chunks where our deepslate base is.

Reaching the deepslate base, we place down our Shulker boxes and empty them! We deposit the items into our chests except for some cartography equipment. Using some bottles of enchanting, we repair our tools and our Elytra! We pick up a few chests before heading to the docks.

As usual, there are drowned in the sea beneath the docks! We slay them but we only get rotten flesh. As the sun sets, we pack everything that we are currently holding on to into the chest! We head over to the cacti to dispose of the rotten flesh.

The last thing that we need for our adventure is a bed to set our spawn point! We head to the sheep pen to get some wool, and we craft it into a bed at the deepslate base. We also craft a new boat! Armed with minimal supplies, we set off and start to cross the ocean!

Once we get far enough, we should start to see new 1.18 chunks! Nice. We use our map to guide us! Soon, we see large peaks and valleys appear in the distance! We continue rowing forward in anticipation. Finding some shallow water along the coast, we dock our boat and climb onto the beach!

Placing down our chest and our bed, we store away the mapmaking materials! We will only use them if we go out of the bounds of our original map. Then, we head into the forest to explore the new terrain! It seems quite difficult to climb up the hills though, so we decide to get into our boat.

Paddling over to the river that we had seen earlier, we find a cave opening! It starts to rain, and we approach the cave entrance but we stop short of entering it! We harvest some sugar canes before returning to our landing place, where we end the episode.
