If you're hoping this will be a high-action game like Alien: Colonial Marines, you'd be very disappointed. Alien: Isolation is more of a cat-and-mouse game, with small action-y parts, where you play as Ellen Ripley's daughter in her attempt to escape a space station while avoiding a deadly alien creature that roams around the facility. Here, you aren't a badass. You're in the shoes of someone powerless against the creature, skulking and hiding from it most of the time. Because if it finds you, you're dead. It's a refreshing take on the game series, and it's one that it probably needs right now.

If you haven't noticed, the game is visually stunning. The shadow, lighting, and fog effects look phenomenal, and they all combine to produce a convincing show of a thriller game. The sound design and score are amazing, adding much tension and creepiness to seal the package. It's actually a great title to play in celebration of Halloween.

Even with most everything (except shadow size) cranked up, it runs like a champ on the Y410p. It rarely goes below 40 fps, and even then it doesn't go near 30 fps. The game stays above 50 fps most of the time, which I guess is just normal being the game taking place in small areas with not many interactive objects to render. However, the latest Nvidia driver (344.48 WHQL) causes the game to freeze at some loading screens. You can either wait it out for it to unfreeze (takes around 4 minutes) or play using the more stable 344.11 driver.
