There is good news and bad news about PvZ: GW... The good; it's a fantastic third-person shooter suited for a wider audience. The bad; it's on Origin. But thanks to that and Origin's new Game Time section, I was able to try it. Honestly, I had low expectations of it. I didn't even look into it when news after news of its existence was right in my face. I wouldn't have actually bothered if not for my friend's recommendation. But I did, and I loved it.

PvZ's identity has always been a survival game for touch devices. So, I bet some eyes rolled upon the announcement of its TPS treatment. But it works, and really well at that. GW is a playful take on COD's Modern Warfare series, with some Battlefield mixed in. And carrying this theme forward we get a colorful online shooter that doesn't let its vibrant palette and cutesy characters degrade the fun, even for adults. As a TPS, conventional modes, like team deathmatch and conquest come with the package, but survival is still its main offering, which, in my opinion, is the most enjoyable mode in the game.

In the video, me and my friend play two modes together: Garden Ops and Team Vanquish. Garden Ops is the survival type. It's like Sanctum 2 mixed with Killing Floor, and up to 4 players can join in co-op. Team Vanquish is obviously a team deathmatch game, where a max of 12 players on each team fight to earn 50 points. I've included captions, in case anyone wants to know what my friend is saying. I'm pretty sure it's all nonsense, though.
