If you've tried Ground Zeroes on this computer, then you know what to expect from The Phantom Pain. This game, while much bigger than GZ, is still incredibly optimized for how gorgeous it looks. Because of this, I heart Fox Engine. There are no graphic presets available, and most settings go from Low, to High, to Extra High (with some a few having a Medium option). The most taxing to the least, in my observation, are Post Processing, Ambient Occlusion, Shadows, Lighting, and (lastly) Effects. There is more demanded from your GPU at nighttime events, so you may decrease shadow and lighting quality if the performance you're getting isn't cutting it for you. Disabling Volumetric Clouds may also improve performance, but I personally wouldn't mind leaving it on. Although, I did lower Shadows to High and it seemed sufficient enough for me (30+ fps during nighttime, with very occasional drops to the low 20s).

From what I've been hearing, TPP is more gameplay focused than previous MGS entries and it's all right by me (because it's addictive). This is probably the best design iteration that Kojima has produced for an MGS game, and it appeals to a wider gaming audience -- not just loyal followers. Too bad it's very unlikely we'd see another [proper] MGS game, because Kojima and Konami already went their separate ways (good riddance, too, with the way Konami had been treating their employees). This also means saying goodbye to Zone of the Enders 3 (sob).

In conclusion, I recommend playing this game but not buying it (yet -- maybe until it's only a dollar on Steam, because #FucKonami). Or just support Kojima's future endeavors on Kickstarter

Maximum Operating Temperatures (4 hours of gaming):
CPU - 88 to 91 °C
GPU - 87 °C
