Lenovo Ideapad Y410p - Titanfall (Beta) Performance Test (Max Settings, 2x MSAA)
I'm not into COD shooters, but I really like Titanfall. Yep, it's made by older members of Infinity Ward, now known as Respawn Entertainment. I don't know, maybe it's the ability to double-jump, wall run, the addition of giant bipedal death machines, or all of the above. Something just got my attention. So, color me excited when the beta appeared in my Origin client, and my enthusiasm just went through the roof after finding out my laptop can run it well at the highest settings. I guess that's to be expected of Source games. I'm also impressed that the beta has official Xbox 360 controller support. However, the game didn't run perfectly at first launch.
Like a few games out there, Titanfall has issues with Optimus AKA Nvidia's proprietary switching graphics technology. Instead of letting the GT 750M handle the graphics, it uses the IGP by default. Forcing it to use Nvidia on the control panel fixes this. The game even has its own issues with integrated graphics, causing weird graphical glitches on infantry and Titans. But I believe Respawn is resolving the issue with Intel, which is good news for you guys stuck with the IGP. Anyway, here's how the Y410p stacks up to the game...
Framerate (Max Settings, 2x MSAA @ 768p):
Range - 35 to 60 fps
Average - 52 fps
Maximum Operating Temperatures (2 hours of gaming):
CPU - 77 to 79 °C
GPU - 79 °C
I also tried the highest possible resolution I can use...
Framerate (Max Settings, 2x MSAA @ 1080p):
Range - 25 to 43 fps
Average - 31 fps
Apparently, Titanfall has little to improve on the performance side. Server side needs more work, though. Wish the beta testing phase was longer (a full week's extension is preferred), but I can say with full confidence that Titanfall is ready for public consumption.
