Eschatos needs no introduction. One of the most widely played nonmaku of the post-360 era, its design hearkens to Compile and console/caravan STGs of the late 80s and early 90s, intensified for modern hardware and expectations of pace. The game is a celebration of shoot-em-up history, touching on Space Invaders, Galaxian, Aleste, and by the end even Raizing/Cave. Yet it's never bogged down by referentiality, forging it's own personality while blazing through a vast array of enemy types and patterns, with each sub-stage possessing a unique and memorable gimmick which is always sure to recur throughout the campaign.

My level of play is barely scraping over the minimum sufficient to 1CC the game, after ~20 hours of practice split favoring Switch in flipgrip mode over PC with SSF4-TES. The commentary is negligible, as I needed to concentrate pretty hard for this one. It's something I'd like to return to in Advanced mode and possibly later on Hard difficulty.
