DEAD END CITY is a brand new indie STG available on Steam. This game was sprung on me by the community and I found it surprisingly charming. It's reminiscent of Capcom's 1943 as well as Galaga '88, with some mechanical and stylistic nods to later STGs (such as a layered scoring system). Since the 1CC requires only a basic level of play, it doesn't take long to become acclimated to the full length of the game and focus on playing competitively. I'll be returning to this one to try to improve my scores and clear with the remaining characters. If I can get a run that showcases all 4 rival battles, I'll upload that here as well.
