Lets Build Twitter From the Ground Up: Episode 166 || Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and React
Building large scale application is more difficult than many people understand or expect. Join me in this long running series where I set out to duplicate one of the most popular social media platforms ever creating using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL data, React JS web application framework and more.
In this episode we start working on a massive and important piece of twitter, notifications. We setup a new entity to represent a notification we want to store in the database, as well as a simple repository for crud operations to start out. Then we setup a NotificationService as well as a Websocket for the frontend to connect to and send notifications to the signed in user. We wrapped up the episode setting up a notification method to send notifications to users when their follower creates a new post and test the websocket out on the frontend.
