With our base well established, it's only a matter of time before we crush the NOD forces in the area. Playing with the NOD air unit in the Funpark Dinosaur campaign has made all appreciate the orca all the more, mainly due to how capable it is at destroying buildings and vehicles before they become a threat; you certainly couldn't stop harvesters with a swarm of seven apache helicopters. The hardest part of the level was at the beginning, minus the potential for our base being hit with a nuclear missile if we're not too careful. Hopefully I won't make the same mistake as I did last time when it comes to that.

In fact, that gives me an idea...

I've had tremendous fun returning to Command and Conquer after all this time. The music is fantastic, the gameplay still wonderful and the cutscenes are a joy to experience. The plot itself is rather throwaway but it does a great job of connecting the missions in the campaigns up and the acting is a delight to see. The GDI campaign is in many respects better built then the NOD one but the latter has a challenge all its own. Looking back on the game now however, I can see all the flaws in the game due to when it was made; the numerous ways the enemy can be tricked into making poor choices, using certain units to destroy their harvesters risk free and the many ways the opponent has to blatantly cheat to try and keep up are all things that later games would try to improve on with varying degrees of success. Even with its flaws however, Command and Conquer is a game that's still enjoyable now and the additional mini-campaign and all the Covert Operation missions just add even more content to an already content rich experience. I'd encourage anyone who hasn't already experienced the beginning of the C&C series to give this game a look.

So what's next? There's still a score of Covert Operation missions and the PSX/N64 exclusive missions but I might return to some of them at a later date. For now, I think it's time to play something very laid back indeed, a game that captured my imagination on its release and still intrigues me to this day. One thing's for sure, it's going to be very different to what I usually play and full of silliness, the best thing for any game to be abundant in.

See you next Let's Play!
