Khamulon is a huge change of pace compared to the rest of the game, a sprawling dungeon which you can't escape until you've bested it. The inner area is vast and it's fair to say we aren't even halfway through yet; that the game throws so many rations and torches at you is a warning that you'll be there for quite some time. It's a good thing it does though, ensuring you with enough resources just in case you're taking a melee-heavy party.

That said, the bare minimum number of spellcasters you can take to Khamulon is two, as you need Khunag and Harriet is a permanent party member no matter what at this point. I'd be curious to see how Khamulon would be if you took Siobhan instead of Sira and Melthas, if having more heavy hitters in combat counteracts your inability to crowd control effectively. Still, the game gives you the choice at this point and I'm sure someone tried it. In fact, you could go into Khamulon with just Tom, Harriet and Khunag if you so chose to, taking larger shares of experience at the cost of having only half a party. The thought of Tom and Harriet working as a duo for the endgame is a challenge I don't think I'll ever be brave enough to try.
