Let's Play Cthulhu Saves the World (Part 1)
Sorry about the game volume being a bit high for this part and the next. The Windows volume settings for this game reset each time you close the game. What you are hearing is the game on Quiet volume (the next setting below that is Silent).
Anywho, this is Cthuhlu Saves the World, a RPG that uses a standard turn based combat system with a few minor tweaks. This game was made by the same people who made Breath of Death VII and Penny Arcade's On the Rainslick Precipice Darkness 3. It uses the RPG Maker engine and is 8-bit. Much like Rainslick Precipice, the game has an amusing sense of humor and tends to break the 4th wall from time to time.
As the name implies, we play as Cthulhu and in this part I go over the basic combat mechanics as well as save Umi.
Cthulhu is your standard all rounder hero character. You can build him for physical or magic but most of the weapons you find will be more physical than anything and there are other party members who can fill the magic role.
Umi is a more squishy all rounder. She has low defenses but average Strength and Magic. Her physical attacks tend to be single targets with a chance of causing status effects while her magic is area water magic or status ailments. She starts out with Siren's Song which can cause Insanity and Stun even bosses for one turn making her great for any and all boss fights. She also learns a number of healing spells making her into a sort of cleric character.
