Let's Play Digimon World Part 57 - MetalGreymon Reborn, Vengeance on Rockmon and Grade A Tourney!
1Playing what is arguably a most favorite and fondly-remembered game of mines from the childhood days, Digimon World presents an exciting adventure for me and my cousin here as we both delve forward into a duo playthrough together from beginning to end to bring back File Island to it's original bustling city status!
Indeed, it's finally that time once more, busy training Cynite as hard as ever at the Green Gym when, right as he tackles 500 offence, it happened.
The ultimate digivolution!
Not one that was caused by sheer luck on my part (Vademon) or an 'easy' ultimate that's handed to anyone daring enough to venture/fly to Toy Town with a rubbish Numemon and see a certain part of it to trigger said evolution, (Monzaemon) but rather through hard and rigorous training alongside the most vital assistance of those chips gathered across the whole game!
But, having said that, MetalGreymon?! As in the mega classic digimon that is so iconic in this game that he is solely represented in the front of the American cover of this game (Seems unlike us British and European fellows where we got the more cutesy and charming rookie cast of all those digimon in the Digimon Adventure anime series that came not long after this game was originally released in Japan! (Amusingly Tentomon is only seen as a fightable rookie digimon and not one you can evolve into nor recruit, whilst Gomamon isn't even seen in the game AT ALL! Most annoying one at that indeed!)
Damn, Jay certainly did get the 'better' ultimate at that here, despite getting the 'worst' champion that is Tyrannomon, but alas such as it is!
Obviously this led to some eager testing for this new digimon's enhanced battle capabilities, starting off safe with Grade B and, well what do you know MetalGreymon dominated the whole tournament! Though I dare say All Range Beam is a rubbish competitive move to use here, since it's always 1v1 and area techs in general here are a waste of MP for similar techs that deal more damage or use far less MP as a result! Only advantage is all of them are near-guaranteed to hit your opponents, but ah well!
Suppose that Myotismon in the second round was an interesting fight, but certainly he'd be far more fearsome if we were to ever face against him in the Grade A or even the fabled Grade S tournaments! Believe me, he's not one to mess around when it comes to annihilating his competition! Also Rockmon, notorious pest that he is for us, tried to stop us yet again, however seem to lack those fast moves that pissed off Jay to no end, thus we were JUST able to win against him and no more, having ran out of MP quickly and defending against his highly-potent Aurora Freezes for just long enough to claim the victory!
With that Grade B victory came more lust for victories and thus, after another day of training at the established Green Gym, we give the Grade A tournament a shot at last, eager to prove ourselves for real with Cynite fully evolved in among the big boys at the Arena now!
Just a damn shame it was Rockmon right then, back to back just about! Not only that but he had learnt his lesson from before and tore MetalGreymon apart by nitpicking at him with those same moves that caused Jay to rage from before!
Guess those weak techniques really are devastating when put into the hands of a competent tamer! (Or digimon here, but you get the idea) Of course, the camera didn't have enough power left to quite reach the 30 minute recording limit, but alas we did not win, close one it was though!
