Let's Play Digimon World Part 62 - The Ballad of the Dinosaur Cyborg and Dance with MachineDramon
Playing what is arguably a most favorite and fondly-remembered game of mines from the childhood days, Digimon World presents an exciting adventure for me and my cousin here as we both delve forward into a duo playthrough together from beginning to end to bring back File Island to it's original bustling city status!
At last, the battle with the second, fearsome and truly final digimon battle in all of Digimon World, the hardest of them at that, finally commences with Cynite the MetalGreymon, nearing his old age with most of the training at Green Gym all done and dusted, ready to take on the mechanical beast again, this time succeeding where Opal the Vademon previously failed in and not even Halite the Monzaemon had the chance of trying!
With that said, the Back Dimension journey commences, through it's three floors filled with the most toughest of wild digimon in existence, all narrowly evaded without a scratch on MetalGreymon, and thus the final battle of the playthrough begins at last...
...MetalGreymon versus MachineDramon!
Now for the climatic battle itself, see with MetalGreymon and his stats actually being not bad for a proper ultimate, he can actually pierce through MachineDramon's augmented defences and hurt him, albeit still greatly weakened compared to the normal expected damage, but I'm confident Jay was actually happy to see his powerful Cynite actually do around 100-120 damage with Buster Dive and about 130-150 with All Range Beam, rarely using Megaton Punch here as it wouldn't deal the desired damage due to MachineDramon having an ungodly high amount of defence here in this battle!
Of course, Thunder Justice still hurts like hell thanks to the augmented powers of Full Potential, thankfully MachineDramon's other move, All Range Beam, isn't so bad but it does cancel out Jay's favourite move on account of the rule of only one area move being allowed at any time, not so bad for MachineDramon who can just whip out Thunder Justice instead, but Jay wasn't so savvy as to use Buster Dive instead, but alas I can't exactly blame him not knowing that advanced tactice there!
After a good 9 minutes of intense fighting, FINALLY the second MachineDramon falls down for the count! Such a long time it took to beat this digimon where for others it wasn't nowhere near as brutal, but alas he is down for good! What a beautiful surprise to see Jay also be rewarded with that most powerful support tech as well, Full Potential, and from the hardest digimon in the game at that! (Ignoring the fact that it is called 'Full Power' in this version of the game, but hey ho!)
Indeed, we found out that this 'MachineDramon' was nothing more than a phantom at that, suddenly revealing it's true form to be just a harmless Muchomon that 'passed out'. Interesting phenomenon there that'd be pursued in a game far into the future, 20 years later and 3 whole console generations at that, Digimon World: Next Order indeed!
But yes, the best part of beating this reviled MachineDramon (asides from the sense of accomplishment and pride, that is!) is being rewarded with arguably the most coveted item in the entire game: The Chained Melon!
Essentially this item is one of only two in the whole game that extends your digimon's lifespan, this one granting a FULL DAY to your digimon without any consequences unlike the DigiSeabass that only extends the lifespan by six hours and carries the risk of making your digimon sick and thus undoing that hard-earned work!
But yes, that'll be looking to be it for this most fabulous playthrough of mines! And what a big bang to end it on eh? All that singleplayer fun indeed, such as it is Bandai created a masterpiece here as far as tamagotchi and monster-raising games goes here!
Just that pleasant memory from having first touched this as a young three year old myself, completely clueless in where to go and my only significant achievement (other than getting Bakemon by luck due to dying in battle as a rookie too often) is making it to Tropical Jungle through chance with Coelamon and making it ALL the way to the entrance to Ancient DinoRegion, where that Tyrannomon proceeded to pummel my barely-trained rookie to pieces! Man, to not know how a Green Gym even worked back then!
Hope you've all enjoyed the ride here and, well, what's next in store for us two now?
In any case, I hope you enjoyed the video and any constructive comments or criticism is appreciated!
