Let’s Play Doom 3 BFG Edition ROE #02: Grabbing onto Hope [Strobe Warning]

This is also my first full playthrough of the game. Kindly avoid posting spoilers in the comments or solutions to puzzles either in this video or future ones so as not to spoil the experience for me or those that haven’t seen the game before.
At its core, Ressurection of Evil is more of the same Doom 3 experience. There’ll be dark and cramped corridors, ambushes from teleporting demons and monster closets and that eerie atmosphere which does a wonderful job of setting you on edge. There are some pretty big differences, however, starting with the newest addition to our arsenal: the grabber. While not strictly a weapon by design, it’s ability to grab items and even imp fireballs and launch them off at great speed makes it a good way to save on ammunition and grab goodies that would otherwise be impossible to reach.
That it’s a weapon which blatantly copies the mechanics of the gravity gun from Half Life 2 is something that I don’t think needs to be mentioned.
There’s also another new weapon that we won’t be seeing for a while but what we’ve already seen is one of the new enemies. The engineer is going to have to face some very dangerous foes very soon, ones that are faster and more deadly than the imps we’d be expecting considering our sparse tools to deal with them. Fortunately for us, we’re about to get a very powerful tool indeed that will tip the scales in our favour.
Unfortunately for us, gaining said tool will require us to defeat the first boss in the game, one that can only be defeated via the Grabber.
