103A playthrough of "Outpost Omega" (Map29) of Doom 64 Retribution for PC, played through GZDoom. 100% kills, 100% secrets (Max-Kill).
This is a map that feels a lot bigger than it really is. It's all about getting some very specific items: the Unmaker and the first of three Demon Runes. The Unmaker is a new gun exclusive to Doom 64 and it starts out rather lackluster, capable of a wide range of damage, doing 10-150 damage per shot. It does slightly outdamage the Plasma Rifle but you have to be crazy accurate due to the narrow shots. It doesn't have the greatest rate of fire, though. This is remedied by the first of three Demon Rune, speeding up the weapon's rate of fire by around double. You only get one shot at obtaining each of the Runes so don't miss out on them! Outpost Omega has some nasty surprises despite it's small layout. The blue key room is rather complicated as the vertical layout feels almost like a micro-maze, however once you get familiar with it then everything in it is easy to figure out and remember. We have the introduction of the new and improved Pain Elemental, which is much more deadly and, no pun intended, painful than before. Now they can spit TWO Lost Souls at a time, coupled with the much more aggressive behavior of said Lost Souls and you're really looking at a world of pain. Plus, close-quarters combat with a two quartets of Mancubi, it can all leave you feeling a bit winded and low on health by the time you reach the exit. It's small but a bit rough if you aren't prepared for what's inside.
