Having a relatively in-depth knowledge of D&D helps only so much when it comes to the older video games, as quite often they wouldn't properly carry over the abilities of a spell, monster or item. It makes you second guess what monsters are capable of and not pick spells that'd help you, thinking that their effects are trimmed down in some way. While the foes we've been facing have certainly been one-note in what they're capable of, I'm happy to say that with the spells that isn't the case.
True Seeing is a spell I should've been using as soon as I got access to it, as it pretty much does exactly what it's meant to. The spell reveals that which is hidden through any magical effect and sees through illusions. It also helps us see if an item is magical, though it doesn't identify what they do in this game. We haven't met an invisible enemy yet but it'll certainly help us notice them and any illusion walls, something that I really could use right about now. It won't help us see things hidden in mundane manners, but for that we'll be relying on my attentive nature and ability to spot things out of place.
That is to say, we're very unlikely to see anything hidden in a mundane manner unless it's very poorly hidden.
