Jym has come a long way since his humble beginnings escaping Castle Glaive. He's traveled the world, scoured many dungeons and defeated adversaries that far exceed the monster he fought in the arena. He's met many people though none of them would say they're his friend - save one that's dead - and throughout his adventure he's made many silly mistakes that have endangered the world. But through all of it, he's endured and grown and now, Jym is not just a warrior swinging a sword to survive but a knight of Gemma, the guardians of the Tree of Mana. One could say he's the only one left who can do it, what with Bogard and Cibba being really old.

Can Jym save the Tree of Mana? Can he defeat Julius and prevent the dark future the child of Vandole envisions? And will Skye ever forgive him for being a bumbling buffoon? There's only one way to find out.

Mystic Quest is not a game without flaws. The translation isn't great, the combat is simplistic and the game is rather short, but that doesn't take away from how brilliant the game is. Mystic Quest is one of my favourite games and one that is near and dear to my heart, even after all this time and knowing all its flaws. The game is charmingly wonderful, with fantastic music, nice graphics and an atmosphere that pulls you into it; it did that when I first bought it, then again when I finally completed years later. It did so when I first let's played it and once again, Mystic Quest has surprised me with how it stirred my emotions while I played. Even though I knew what was going to happen, it tugged at my heartstrings and made me care for the outcome, something that happens only rarely with games for me and is a sign of a great one. It was a fantastic game to play on the go when I was young and to me, still is a joy to play even if games have come by after that have exceeded it. While I don't especially like Sword of Mana that much, Adventures of Mana is a great game if you'd prefer to play a more modern incarnation. For me however, no remake will ever truly capture the joy I feel when I play this game and if you haven't played Mystic Quest I encourage you to do so, be it this version or one of the later ones. Whichever one you try, you're in for a treat.

Normally this would be where I ask what game will come next and leave a semi-cryptic hint, but this time you know what game is to come. Stonekeep won the vote for the next let's replay and so that game will follow in the foosteps of this one, another game of my childhood that I'm looking forward to playing again. It gives Jym a chance to rest and take stock on the life-changing adventure he's been and who knows, maybe people might start liking him a bit more now, eh?

...Wishful thinking I'm afraid there Jym.

See you next Let's Replay!

This video was originally recorded with the intention of being a part of video 24. After I saw that the combined length of that would be far too long, I separated the parts into two videos.
