Shortly after escaping Alexandria, Zidane, Vivi, and Dagger find themselves in Pinnicle Rocks after the Gargant crashed from the chase. Upset and in despair over her kingdom's fate, Dagger is confronted by the spirit of Ramuh, the Thunder God Eidolon, who relays the news of both acts of Brahne as well as Odin's power displayed by the destruction of Cleyra.

Dagger, scared but now filled with resolved, partakes in a small task for Ramuh in exchange for his power as an Eidolon. After a story telling moment, Dagger is rewarded his power and makes the vow to use her powers for good.

However, their worst fear comes to sight as the Red Rose is over head, sending Black Mage after Black Mage in the castle and town of Lindblum and destroying all of Regent Cid Fabool's airship armada and crippling his main army. The worst comes with the gravity beast Atomos, one of Dagger's now enslaved Eidolons was summoned and wipes out all of Lindblum's Industrial District.

All is silent when they enter Lindblum, finding to their relief that Cid had decided to surrender rather than fight like the kingdoms of Burmecia and Cleyra. It's here they learn of Brahne's new partner, Kuja. Kuja, the silver haired man Dagger and Zidane saw in Treno and Burmecia respectively, is revealed to be a weapons supplier that had given Brahne the power to use Eidolons and the black mage army. Seeing this as the weakness they need, Zidane and Dagger, along with Vivi, decide to take out Kuja in order to stop Brahne's War.

However, the only lead they have is that Kuja is from the Outer Continent, one of the other 3 regions we have yet to travel to. As to make matters worse, Brahne demanded Cid to relinquish both control of Lindblum, The Falcon Claw gem that Cid wore and control of both the Harbor and Cid's recent Steam powered Airship. Desperate, the regent points the trio to Qu's Marsh, where an Excavation Site was rumored to be found, full of fiends not native to the Mist Continent as a potential lead for them to follow.

Shortly after leaving Lindblum and reuniting with Quina, Zidane and the group, led by the hungry Qu, finds the Site's entrance. Soon enough, after a large chase by a mechanized fiend, the group are ambused by Lani, one of Brahne's hired Bounty Hunters. She demands under threat of force for Dagger to give her the Pendant she still wore, forcing the party to fight her off as they begin their path through Fossil Roo.
