The Avatar has filled in as much of the map as he reasonably can on land, which means it’s time to hop into a boat and continue our cartography efforts rowing about on the ocean. There are many advantages to travelling by boat, namely the speed at which you travel and how much safer it is as night compared to land. Since the ocean update it’s no longer completely safe but provided you don’t stay in one place too long, you’ll likely be fine.
I don’t know why, but the worlds I tend to focus on have large amounts of oceans in them. This makes filling in maps quite quick, but it also means that you miss out on the opportunity to encounter many of the more interesting biomes. There are still some that I’ve yet to come across despite playing the game on-and-off since Alpha, but I’m sure I’ll see them eventually.
