Let’s Play HC Minecraft Take Three #20: Exploring our Surroundings

We’ve done so much but have barely explored beyond the horizon, keeping close to our initial spawn. There’s endless world all around us waiting to be uncovered and it’s time we began doing that. You can go exploring a lot earlier than I have but I do recommend you wait until you have a compass so you can locate your spawn easily. A map is even better however, it filling it as you explore about and keeping a record of all that you’ve seen. You can make maps of many sizes and while I often go for the largest ones right away, this time I’m going to begin with smaller ones and build up from there.
One of the main reasons you’ll end up exploring is to find more resources, especially if you rely on natural cave systems to look for ores. While it’s difficult to run out of coal after a certain point, you’ll find that you go through iron at quite a fast pace. It’s used in the creation of so many items including anvils, something you’ll go through a lot of if you start enchanting items.
