We finished up with floor 10-12's puzzle only to find ourselves in another major puzzle.

I explain the main gimmick of Floor 13 in later parts but I will go ahead and take care of that in this description. Exploring Floor 13 revolves around a teleporter in the middle of the room that is controlled by seven magic crystals numbered 1-7. What switches are on and off decide where you end up. But to be more specific is what number you end up with by the switches decides where you end up.

All teleportation locations are assigned a number or range of numbers. To get these numbers you have to know binary and the powers of 2. For example crystal six is actually 32 since 2^6 equals 32. So in order from 1 to 7 the switches are:
1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64.

To use a later example. One teleporter can only be reached by getting 11 as your total. That means you need switches 1, 2, and 4 on and the rest off (1+2+8 = 11).

If you want to know what numbers get you where specifically, the wiki has a long guide and even will tell you where all the items are.

I also mention this floor is good for grinding if you are not ready for Floor 14 or some of the optional bosses. This is very true. I tend to make Floor 13 my grind floor to prepare for the numerous little side bosses that are coming up.
