Let's Play Labyrinth of Touhou (Part 46)
We finish up Floor 16 and face Yukari.
Yukari (Boss):
I was overleveled and had a sort of perfect storm setup for facing this boss so I managed to skip all of her phases. But here goes...
Yukari has rather high defense and mind as well as decent Magic to nuke you with. But she is completely vulnerable to debuffs. Reisen is a godsend for newcomers as her Discarder will debuff all her stats at once. Just becareful as Yukari can cleanse herself of Debuffs and status effects from time to time. You will want to debuff her defenses so you are able to actually do decent damage to her. She is vulnerable to Nature and you want to debuff her Magic as much as possible to reduce how much she blasts you. She has a variety of spells of various elements including spells that debuffs multiple stats and reset your ATB bar.
After dealing 250k to her (and another 200k after that), she will cast Djinn Storm. This will reduce your ENTIRE party's SP to zero. This includes your reserve slots. After that, she will then cast Barrier Release and her form will change. She will do this one more time and change her form once more. Form changes will increase her defenses a little as well as introduce more of her signature spells. If you do enough damage fast enough, she can immediately cast Djinn Storm after Barrier Release, leading you right into the next phase of combat.
Spells to watch out for is Overflowing Unnatural power that increases all of Yukari's stats greatly. If she has this buff up, expect deaths when she casts spells such as Hyperactive Flying Object. Just keep her debuff and hit her with everything you got. Focus when she djinn storms and use your best attacks once you recover.
She has a chance to drop the Gran Grimoire which is a great caster item if you wish to farm for it.
Yukari:
Gap Youkai (specialized in manipulating borders and dimensions)
Yukari has great stats all around (cept for Attack) but levels slowly. She has great starting Affinities and Status resists but her spell damage is lacking. But where Yukari lacks in offense, she makes up in support and defense.
Mesh of Light and Darkness is her Area Spirit spell that has horrible Magic/Mind ratios but has the added effect of causing Paralysis and debuffs Speed. Hyperactive Flying Object is a Row Wind based spell that has similar ratios but targets Defense rather than Mind when deciding damage. Shikigami "Yakumo Ran +" is a single target non elemental nuke that is rather unique. By itself, it is nothing too special. But with Ran and Chen in your party, the damage increases. And if Ran and Chen are in the active row, the damage increases even further.
Her attack spells are nothing fantastice but where she shines is with her support magic. Yukari's Spiriting Away sets all other party member's ATBs to 100% (cept for Kaguya's which is set to 120% to prevent cheesing the system). IN Quadruple Barrier is exactly the same as Reimu's party buff, buffing all active member's Def/Mind by 50%.
Unlike Reimu though, Yukari has much better defensive stats. This makes it possible to put Yukari in the second slot and just spam buffs (assuming you have enough SP) for all who are swapped into the active row.
Yukari is a very reliable offtank/support character. Just set her up and spam buffs until the battle is over.
