Let's Play Malcolm's Revenge #08: The Worst Laid Plans

After far longer than it should've been, Malcolm finally has all of the gems that he needs to repair the statues on the Isle of Cats. Once that's fixed we'll hopefully get some magic and with that, we can get the pirates to lend Malcolm a hand in invading Kyrandia. Presuming that that somehow goes well, Kyrandia will once again be under the heel of Malcolm and then he'll... Well...
I get the feeling that this plan is still missing a few things, like a solid foundation and alternate methods of success just in case the initial attempt fails. I'm not saying that Malcolm doesn't have what it takes to confront the mystics of Kyrandia, but... Actually, that's exactly what I'm saying. It was the terribly powerful magic that Malcolm possessed in the first game which made it so easy for him to take power, something that he can't compensate for with some magical baubles that he might get from the cats he's currently trying to help. The pirates don't seem the most numerous or the most capable, not to mention they're pirates and by their nature untrustworthy. All in all, this whole scheme is turning out to be a disaster waiting to happen, a failure all-but assured.
But maybe I'm being too hard on Malcolm. Maybe he's got some tricks up his sleeve that'll turn the odds in his favour. Perhaps somehow, by a small miracle and plot convenience, he'll win the day and finally get his long-sought revenge.
...It's not likely I know. Malcolm can but hope though. Perhaps hope is all he's got left, that and a bottomless well of sarcasm.
