Let's Play Mega Man Maker - #06: Bland and Buggy Engine Land
6In this part of Mega Man Maker V1.0.2 (PC), I play ten levels that I found by browsing the latest level submission queue.
Unfortunately, most of them, outside of "Heaven's Crystal Tower", "Green Hill Act 1", and "Bomb Factory", were rather boring and forgettable. To be fair, I expected this would occur. After all, according to Sturgeon's Law, 90% of the levels submitted will be boring. So from now on, when browsing the new queue, I'll try only playing levels with a minimum score of 4 or 5, unless I'm already confident in the level creator's skill. If I can't find ones that fit this criteria, I'll loosen the minimum score restriction.
On that note, I wish there were "Hot" or "Rising" queues, so it would be easier to locate the decent or better levels without having to dig through the rest, as well as find up and coming levels that show potential. The queues would refresh over time so new levels can attain the spotlight.
Unfortunately, I've been encountering more serious issues. In several parts of this video (like 11:02 and 24:41), the screen would not scroll further, preventing me from progressing forward through the level. In the case of 13:48, it resulted in me filling into a death pit that shouldn't exist (see 14:11). I was able to resolve these issues by either dying or restarting at the last checkpoint. I suppose the reason behind this was that screen scrolling locked in place, and didn't unlock.
EDIT: As of the V1.0.3, the above problem has been fixed. Apparently, V1.0.2 was rather buggy.
