Let's Play Mega Man X2 - Part 3: See You Later, Alligator
With one Maverick down for the count, we're ready to take out another. Next up in my order is Wheel Gator, who dwells in the Dinosaur Tank stage. His stage isn't too bad as long as you're paying attention, and it has a Ride Armor to have some fun with. Many of the enemies here are shaped like dinosaurs of some kind, such as the Triceratops-like yellow tanks. Neither of the powerups here can be obtained the first time through (at least, if you're doing the stages in the order I am), though. Wheel Gator himself is a fairly easy boss, but he can test your patience (and your thumb) nevertheless. His boss room is flooded with some sort of reddish mud, and his main attack pattern involves sinking into it and sending buzzsaw-like Spin Wheels up the walls at you. If you're in the mud when he resurfaces, you're almost guaranteed to get caught in his jaws, which does a good chunk of damage, especially if you don't break free for a while (I think you can get out quicker by mashing the controller buttons). It's much better to stay on the walls. He can also stand upright in the mud and send Spin Wheels bouncing on the ground. If you beat him, you get the Spin Wheel, which is a circular saw that travels along the ground (not up walls like his does, though) and can cut through certain foreground objects. I didn't mention it in the video because I forgot, but Wheel Gator's weakness is actually Wire Sponge's weapon, if you want to use it. It deals 3 HP damage, so it will take 11 hits to drop him.
