We're getting close to the end now, at least as far as the Mavericks are concerned. There are only two of them left left, both residing in relatively difficult stages. I did Morph Moth at this point, and he resides in the Robot Junkyard stage. His stage is, as you'd expect, full of scraps and junk from retired robots. It has a few magnetic areas where you jump higher, some rather annoying parasitic green bugs, and a lot of the same enemies we've been encountering in most stages. It also has two sub-bosses and probably the least memorable BGM in the game. The last of the X-Hunters is also here, and boy is he ever easier to fight the other two. He's no pushover, but the fact that I beat him without even losing half my normal health, let alone having to use a Sub-Tank, should tell you something right there. He only really does two things; from one of the bottom two corners of the room, he'll either jump and throw a huge energy slash at X (at the same altitude as him) or dash to the other corner. Agile has much more of a pattern to him than Violen or Serges...although the fact that my health meter at this point was almost at maximum certainly helped.

Then there's Morph Moth himself. He's the only Maverick to have two completely different fighting patterns; at the beginning of the battle, he's in his cocoon. He has three attacks, each involving pieces of junk that deal contact damage, that he will always perform in the same order. After about two-thirds of his health is gone, he will transform into his full moth form and fly back and forth shooting you with laser beams and dropping sparkly stuff on you that I assume is supposed to be silk. He can be hard or not so hard, but he's one of those bosses that you probably don't want to fight early on (even if his stage were easier). Upon defeat, he gives you the Silk Shot, a weapon that he never used during the fight and that has a rather undescriptive name. It shoots a piece of junk in an arc, and the junk breaks into four pieces that spread out diagonally when it hits the ground. Charging it makes you draw junk toward you for a bit, and then you shoot the bigger piece of junk the same way you would the uncharged one. It breaks into more pieces, though. In some areas, charging the Silk Shot will instead attract powerups toward you. You can usually identify these places because they tend to be small empty rooms with apparently no point to going in them. I also got X's last piece of armor in this stage, the body part.
