The last Nether Portal we made in the previous run of Hardcore Minecraft ended up being the death of my character; out on the surface with no way of stopping anything from walking in or out it meant that monsters that spawned in the night ran into the portal and waited for me to go through the other side. Bombarded by enemies the Avatar perished.

We won't make the same mistake this time. We'll make sure that both sides of the portal are safe for the Avatar, ensuring I'll be able to get in and out of the Nether with relative ease.

Of course it won't be possible to make all my journeying in the Nether as safe as that, the Nether has a whole load of perils that are rather tricky to deal with if you're unprepared. Since my objective there is searching for a Nether Fortress we may be there some time so it's best to take all I need for a long stay.

At around 15:49 I had to cut out a few seconds of footage due to the compressing making strange bugged out graphics and sound. Nothing occurs in the part that was cut. I generally don't like doing cuts but in this instance I felt it was necessary.
