Let’s Play Okamiden - Episode 5: The Twist that Surprised no one
We enter the hole that we uncovered at the end of the previous episode and encounter Master Anura, a giant frog that’s made a comfy lair for itself in a small lake beneath Hana Valley’s Guardian Sapling. However, before we can fight him, Kuni runs off out of shame/fear after revealing that Susano isn’t his real father. But fortunately for us, partway through the fight, Kuni has a change of heart, embraces his life of being Susano’s adopted son, and helps us defeat Master Anura, which in turn allows us to bloom the Hana Valley and Shinshu Field’s Guardian Saplings, as well as Konohana.
Though really, did anyone honestly believe that Kuni was Susano’s biological son when they first played it? After all, Kuni looks to be about in the ballpark of around seven to nine-years-old, yet Susano and Kushi’s relationship didn’t become romantic until after he and Ammy defeated Orochi nine months before the event of this game. So unless Nagi’s decedents age at a rate of one year every month or Kushi had a secret night of passion with the potter in Shinshu field nine years prior to the events of “Okami” and did a really good job at hiding her kid, it should be obvious to everyone that there’s more to Susano and Kuni than meets the eye.
