Part 1 of my playthrough of Sam & Max: Hit the Road. I put off playing this for a while after I bought it because I knew if I didn't, I'd end up dropping everything to play.

You play as Sam and Max, Freelance Police. Sam is a dog that's lazy but has a weirdly good overall work ethic; Max is a psychotic bunny that somehow is your friend, and not your primary antagonist. You get jobs from the actual police that they don't want to do themselves. You are given an assignment at the start of this game to go track down a bigfoot that's gone missing from the local carnival, as well as the disappearance of another of their sideshow attractions. The puzzle solutions are wild and the plot must be taken with a grain of salt at times.

This game is from my youth, and it holds a distinctly important part of my heart hostage. I loved this game growing up, and honestly I was worried that it wouldn't hold up some 20+ years later. Thankfully, other than a couple jokes that are extremely of the time reference-wise, my fears were unfounded: It's still good, y'all.

I'll admit the sound quality is lacking to say the least, and there are so few pixels spread on the screen. Despite it's obvious age, the game still delivers. It's still funny, still well-written, still extremely aware that it is itself an adventure game, and doesn't take anything too seriously. I'm really happy to be re-playing this and enjoying a bit of my childhood once more.
