Welcome to part 1 of my (extremely staggered) playthrough of Scarlet Hollow! I'll be honest: when I found out that Abby Howard was involved in making a horror virtual novel, I puckered with anticipation. Chapter 1 is free to play on steam, which is where I grabbed mine from and I recommend you do that thing too! It's also being Kickstarted to fund the rest of the chapters.

The story so far is that our Aunt died, and we've been invited to the funeral. We are met by our estranged cousin, and things are tense pretty much the entire way down. You show up in Scarlet Hollow which is a small coal-mining town where the Scarlet family (of which you are a part) owns. After putzing around for a while meeting the locals, you go monster hunting (of course you do)! This is when the horror kicks in, as you run into _creatures most foul._

I can't really speak more to the story without spoiling everything, but what I CAN talk about is how good the art is. And the writing. And the music, oh my god the music. Seriously the parts that make up this game are solid start to finish. I could gush at length about it, but suffice it to say: I'm very excited to continue playing Scarlet Hollow.
