Let's Play The Elder Scrolls Arena Blind - Part 29 - Evil Riddles!
We continue our journey through the Halls of Colossus, having gathered all six of the keys necessary to proceed to the next section of the dungeon. After some quick exploration and a few unlocked doors, we make it to the third floor.
Upon reaching the third floor, we find ourselves confronted with a riddle. Unlike every other one, it isn't so much a riddle as a question based on memory, it requires you to simply remember the name inscribed on the fountain statue of floor 1. I get the name somewhat right, but I forget the exact name, resulting in me needing to backtrack.
One journey later, we continue forward to another riddle door. This is, without argument, the most evil riddle we have seen in the game. It isn't so much a normal riddle as a massive algebra equation that requires you to make connections that don't make much sense. The strategy here would be to realize that "he died 26 years ago" means that we need to change letters to numbers since there are 26 letters in the alphabet, then do all the math from that. Somehow that all will end up equaling 108, a number I doubt I would have gotten without guessing every number under the sun.
Luckily, we didn't need to solve the riddle, we found out that the area we go when we fail actually allows us to bypass the locked door. Based on the fact that the sides have ledges to climb onto, it makes me question if this was intentionally an alternative route around the riddle door. In any event, it is my salvation here.
We then find ourselves in the room with the fourth piece of the Staff of Chaos, as well as a good number of Homuncului floating around. We have seen one of them when Jagar Tharn sent his last minion, but this is the first official appearance of them. They appear pretty powerful, but almost all magic users are two-three shot killers, meaning that they don't feel harder than a Snow Wolf or Hellhound. They also aren't as good in melee as a Wraith.
We then make our journey back, which is pretty straightforward, except for the fact that I needed to do it twice since the first time I was planning on ignoring the fact that I had a disease and testing if it was permanent or not. Between travelling and the fact that you generally arrive at towns during the night, it is pretty safe to say that diseases are just horrible. I don't wish to scum things, but nothing is giving me the impression that the stat reductions are temporary, making it too terrible to keep. With the amount I need to deal with, it is pretty much treated as an end-game situation for me, meaning I just reload.
We also get Ria's next message, which tells us that Jagar Tharn is taking us a bit more seriously and is starting to hunt us out. We also receive the information for the fifth piece of the staff of chaos, which will be in the Crystal Tower, something that is south of a massive mountain range that spans most of Tamriel. We end this video as we head back to Corinth to officially complete our delving into the Halls of Colossus.
