Let's Play The Elder Scrolls Arena Blind - Part 37 - Preparing for the Home Stretch
This part showcases my return trip through the lower three floors of the Crystal Tower, which is pretty uneventful for the most part but also gives me a generous amount of XP and loot. We also endure a lot of struggles since many of the things we face turn out to be quite deadly. A big part of the time here is spent trying to heal a bit to continue further to reach the exit, plus many pointless excursions to kill extra stuff.
We also get some plot development here since this is the first time we have rested since picking up the fifth piece of the Staff of Chaos. Jagar Tharn realizes that everything he has sent to kill us has been rather fruitless, that we have done stuff that is absolutely legendary. With this in mind, it seems he finds that we are too powerful to capture (regardless of what he says after we die) and must instead kill us.
A bit more important is the message from Ria Silmane about the sixth piece of the Staff of Chaos, which comes when no enemies appear to attack me when I am resting. As usual she has had to make a great effort to find the name of the dungeon but has no idea where it is. At this point, any deviation from all these patterns would be heavily appreciated, because the entire game is pretty repetitive. We have made it this far into the game, yet we pretty much knew everything we needed to know as soon as we escaped the Imperial Dungeons. We wouldn't have known about boats or the higher tier enemies we are now encountering, but the actual plot has absolutely no surprises apparently.
The latest Ria Silmane cutscene had a bunch of sound glitches, making it quite hard to understand her, meaning we had to rely on the text to understand what was going on. Of course, we don't get much information about where we are going at all, just a place called The Crypt of Hearts. If it isn't noticeable, I miss the flavor text Ria added for all the other dungeons, she pretty much just told us a name and told us to get on with the quest.
Eventually we work our way back to town, where I sell most of the stuff I picked up, but keep one or two pieces of jewelry that give me benefits that I probably will never bother with but like the concept of holding onto. Pushing my gold supply up to 230000, I decide to take Nexus' suggestion to pick up potions. I dump some of the weaker ones I have and then use my massive gold hoard to get some of the more expensive potions in the game. We push our Potions of Purification up to 100, giving me a great amount of life (each one gives me 100% health)/poison removal in the event that it becomes imperative near the end game. I also have read that it gives another effect, though I am a bit mistaken on what it is, apparently Purification has a Sanctuary spell (basically the same as the Invisibility potion from what I can read, except that it isn't 100% guaranteed, though I wouldn't be using these potions for that reason). We also get 99 potions of cure disease since disease has been a problem of the playthrough, plus this gives me fair opportunity to test how disease works if we get one (such as if curing it repairs the stats, since it seems unclear on that matter). We also spend a bunch on 99 potions of free will, which will be great against the Medusas in the event that they become more common. Firestorm is great for killing them, but we will need something so we don't waste a minute of real time after every fight against one.
Needless to say, this part focuses heavily on stocking up on an insane amount of potions that I am intending to last for several dungeons, possibly even to the end game. We might just have gotten our supply of resources to carry us to the end. Perhaps it is a bit incorrect to call this the home stretch, especially since we still got as long a playthrough as it took to complete the Elden Grove, but I cannot help feeling optimistic about coming so close. The saddest part is that I still have 180000 gold and have absolutely no idea what to do with it all (actually, this is a common thing in RPGs for me, I end up too rich due to my kleptomaniac desires and find myself continuing to do this stuff even when it is entirely useless since I am only getting pocket change) , though I will need to spend some to repair my weapons in the next video.
