Let's Play The Elder Scrolls Daggerfall - Part 10 - This Game Just Likes To Troll Me...
We continue to wander through a massive dungeon filled with naked men and skimpily clad women in determination to find the hostess of a massive orgy known simply as Grandma, both due to age and due to her love of telling stories to all the sex deviants.
This part starts simple enough, with me just exploring more areas and finding more naked guys. We also start to encounter Terminator robots, apparently they are a fan of sexy orgy fun time as well. Lesson of the day, Arnold Schwarzenegger probably was at grandma's orgy party. Or maybe this is where failed Terminators go. Who knows.
In any event, we don't really find anything important until we eventually blunder across a palace room that stands out from anything else we have seen. Waltzing into the room, we are instantly blown to smithereens. It appears that there are two Liches in here, which you will remember as the hardest things in Arena. The game decided to throw them quite quickly at me this time, that is not encouraging. These ones blow up as soon as they come in contact with you, making them explosive on impact nightmares, which makes it quite brilliant since all our weapons are melee based. Oh, ranged attacks would be pretty bad too, since they can pretty much one-shot us.
Eventually I cause one to blow up and survive with barely enough health to survive. The second disappears somehow and I take advantage of the situation to get in the place. Only we find ourselves facing a lot of humans and a Terminator robot, the humans getting in my way, even glitching out so that I cannot see them and making me assume that I am hitting the Terminator. We eventually get there though, clearing out the whole palace.
We finally come face to face with the insane old lady and she says that she is locking up everything and cursing it all since her boy is dead. No idea what she is talking about, all I know is that we cannot talk to her after that, nor can we progress further in our quest unless it involves going back to the quest giver. Well, this was anti-climatic.
Of course, then I start to explore and get a message that I "feel bad". Suddenly I start wondering if there is some sort of plot involving feeling bad for the old lady, but then the message keeps appearing. Panicking, I look at Ricky's stats and find out they are dropping! It appears we have been poisoned somehow, probably due to the old lady. Trying to rush out of the place, it turns out there is a door that leads to the entrance, but as we don't have the answer we have to take the long way around.
Reloading, we quickly find out something. The old lady isn't what causes the poison. In fact, it seems to just happen by being in the palace or something. One moment, specifically that where I saved, we are fully healthy and can see such in our stats. The next moment, we get poisoned and have a few minutes to live.
We spend a bunch of time trying to figure out what to do since I don't really have another save since we entered the dungeon (curse you six saves and lack of checkpoints!). Resting does nothing besides kill us instantly. We have nothing to heal with, pretty much we are stuck with the low supply of health we were dealt. I run out of the dungeon, learning the route to escape, only to find fast travel kills me instantly. Great, we might have to reload once more...
Of course, I have gotten an idea since then I would like to try out. What if we tried walking without fast travel? It sounds crazy, since I believe things loop, but it is pretty much our only hope. Plus maybe something will spawn that will have a healing potion or cure poison. In any event, I have definitely learned that we need to stock up on potions before our next dungeon. Especially since this game likes to unfairly troll you and give you poison without doing anything.
The discouraging part is that I have no idea what caused me to get poisoned. This means that even if I reload, we might end up in the same situation after wasting our time in the dungeon again.
