Let’s Play World’s End Club (Blind) - Episode 34: A Bombardment of Reunions
We make our way back to the place where it all started: the underwater theme park where Aniki, in his brainwashed state, proved to have more skill as a strategist in his pinky than MAIK has in its entire mainframe. However, we’re not here for another round of the Game of Fate, but rather to use that code that we used to figure out Vanilla’s location to open that one door that we couldn’t do anything with the last time we were here. And sure enough, We find Vanilla, save her life, and everyone gets to enjoy a happy reunion with her, an occasion that MAIK was kind enough not to ruin by not having any guards present.
That’s right; MAIK may be more than happy to have an army of robots- including a giant mech- guard some random factory that it was using as a makeshift prison, yet it feels that the area containing its mainframe and core- the very essence of its being that it needs to exist- doesn’t need a single being guarding it. Actually, I take that back, MAIK does have one robot guarding it; however, the plan proves to be a bust for reasons that you’ll see in the video.
Though when that fails, MAIK falls back on the typical strategy employed by masterminds in Kodaka games: make the player choose between a better future for everyone, but risk the life/lives of the protagonist(s), or to ensure the safety of the main cast at the expense of everyone else. However, like in the other instances of this sort of thing, we go with the third option: an abstract solution where only the villain loses out, which entails Pochi inserting himself into MAIK’s mainframe in an attempt to destroy its main personality.
