Now that the party have correctly solved the switch puzzle that opens the way further into the dungeon, we know certain things are a given from the previous two games in the series. First, there’ll be different enemies to face, foes though they’re very likely to be undead like the ones on the first floor. If those foes will actually be more challenging is another matter. We can also presume that the puzzles will be more challenging, as those who managed to get this far are surely resourceful enough that more tricky obstacles are required. Third, there’ll hopefully be better loot below that’ll make all the difficulty getting there worth it, though that is the thing least likely to be a given.

If we’re going to find any clues as to how this place connects to the rest of the game, it’ll be on the next floor. Perhaps there’ll be a friendly NPC to talk to or some scrolls that divulge important clues about a weakness the lich has. We may find an item that has no use here but is instead used in a future dungeon to solve a puzzle or bypass a difficult part of it. There’s little we know save that the second level of this place isn’t going to be easy, especially if Rune or another member of the group activates a trap by being overly curious.

Rune can’t be the only one to have mishaps, after all.
