In every playthrough of this game, the most powerful starting faction is your opposite. Bradigan would have had to contend with chaos but the faction lord wandered off somewhere and was dispatched by another lord, making our job a lot easier. One of the things that generally makes a non-Balkoth playthrough simpler is that all the factions don’t end up despising you for the simple fact that you want to conquer everyone. The AI likes to focus attacks on those they really dislike and when everyone loathes you, that means you’re the prime target.

Order have already made their first move but it’s life that I’m worried about, for they have high military strength. I’m going to need to put a lot of defenders in the water capital and I should really have a lot more at the fire capital too but they haven’t done anything there yet. The key word there is ‘yet’, however; the moment they see an opportunity to cause me some trouble, you want to bet that they’ll do so. We can’t cause them much trouble yet but that might change if we manage to take out another faction.
