YT user RoyHess666 told me that I can record DOSBox using FRAPS by changing a setting in the .ini file, namely change output=overlay to output=ddraw. I had to set it to output=opengl, but nevertheless FRAPS picked up DOSBox and I decided to record a small bit to see if it worked properly.

For those who never played this game: In the locked shed there is a powerful weapon named the Hoe of Destruction. If you talk to a certain NPC (that I could not find) he'll tell you the story behind it (from memory, so might be incorrect at points):

Two people, a warrior and a farmer, wanted to have their items, a scythe and a hoe, enchanted, so both went to the same mage to have them enchanted. The warrior wanted his scythe to be enchanted to kill his enemies, the farmer wanted his hoe to be enchanted to make his farmwork easier. The mage agreed, however due to problems with the Ether (part of the game's central plot; magic does not work properly and mages everywhere go senile from it) the mage made a mistake, and enchanted the scythe to harvest crops, and the hoe to destroy it's enemies. The warrior murdered the mage, and the farmer, having no use for a hoe made for killing, just dropped it in his shed. Being an idiot, the fool locked the shed and later decided to use the key as bait for fishing. The fish won, and the guy lost the key, leaving the Hoe of Destruction locked collecting dust in a shed.

The proper way to solve this is to find the fish that ate the key. Now luck would have it that there IS a key hidden inside a fish somewhere: Far south from the farm, in a place called Serpent's Hold, but THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT KEY. THIS IS ANOTHER, COMPLETELY UNRELATED SECRET KEY COINCIDENTLY HIDDEN IN A FISH. I kid you not. Not intend on searching an entire lake for one fish with one key, the Hoe of Destruction seemed lost.

Until Nakar's LP on lparchive pointed out to me another, more destructive solution to the problem: A Cannon.

That presents it's own problem however; while Nakar could recruit Death Cannon using a debug/cheat menu, that option is not available to me, so I searched the lands to find a cannon that faced north.

Turns out the "key" to the shed was in Serpent's Hold after all, just in an...unorthodox form.

Point of order: Yes, you CAN just use the cannons in Lord British's castle. Even though they face south, if you aim the at a target north they will automatically change the direction they face before blowing whatever you pointed at to bits. However, I did not figure that out BEFORE stealing the cannon that faced north, so yeah.
