Let's Try: My Little Blood Cult: Let's Summon Demons
8I'm going to be honest: I went into this game pretty blind. All I had was a description and screenshots to sell me on it, and I was indeed sold. An incremental fishing game but also you run a blood cult? That's a really fun-sounding overlap!
Sadly this game in it's current state is... rough. I'll acknowledge that it's in Early Access, but even with that caveat: this game ain't ready to see the light of day.
I'll start with what I like about this game: I legitimately enjoy the concept of it. I think it's a really cute overlap of very separate genres and I think there's something there. I also think the art is pretty solid for what the game is offering. I also like that there are a lot of demons/spirits/whatevers to actually collect. That's about all it's got going for it.
My issues are many:
1. this is obviously a mobile port, and I wouldn't mind that so much if it were at least a completed game, but it is not.
2. There is zero story or motivation for you to be doing what you're doing. This could maybe be excused, except...
3. The fishing game itself, the core of this whole thing, is boring. You cast the line and just... wait. You can't tease the line, move it around, real it in; nothing. Once you hook a demon, it's a single button press (or tap, as they even say in the copy) to maintain focus on the little red ..thing on the line. Then you have to press some other button that's a rune and then you win.
I'm willing to give almost any game a decent try, but this one? This one isn't ready yet.
