Let's Try Tomb Raider (Part 1) - This is Our Heroine? [Evercade #245]

Oh, dear. I have not been having good luck with recent releases, have I?
My only experience with Tomb Raider before this was Tomb Raider (2013) and the start of its sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider.
I liked what I played of those, so I had kind of high hopes for this.
But, *oh man*, was I sorely disappointed.
The control is abysmal. That's all there is to it. It controls atrociously and it's not fun to move Lara around.
The lack of music really sucks, but it could add to the atmosphere in that regard.
But the controls are just unforgivable.
I'm sorry if I sound spoiled or whatever from newer games, but I think I've been open-minded and surprised enough over the years from Evercade to be able to appreciate and critique these retro games.
And this game, Tomb Raider (1996), has given me a very bad first impression.
I will try the game again at some point now that I have some frame of reference. Maybe it can grow on me.
But as it is, I don't like it.
(And now I fear for the Legacy of Kain collection, too...)
