Level 9 Simple Walkthrough (First Quest) - The Legend of Zelda 100% Walkthrough
10This is the 9th & final dungeon of the First Quest. This video shows only what is necessary to beat the dungeon while also getting all important items. To see a complete walkthrough of this level where I go into every room & grab everything there is to get then see the video linked down below.
As with all dungeons in this game it's not a bad idea to have a potion on hand. Furthermore, if you have not already done so, I recommend that you upgrade your sword & tunic as I have. You can find videos showing the locations to these upgrades as well as the locations of all Bomb, Potion, & Magical Shield Shops linked down below.
In order to get passed the 2nd room of this dungeon you'll need to have beaten every other dungeon and completed the Triforce of Wisdom. Additionally, this video is under the assumption that you have the Magical Key from Level 8. This key acts as an permanent Small Key. If you do not yet have it then I recommend getting it. There is a video that shows how to get it linked below. If, however, you insist on doing this dungeon without the Magical Key then there is also a video linked below where I show how to beat this dungeon using only regular keys.
Lastly, as there are some rooms with Bubbles, if at any point they jinx you then you can use the Recorder/Whistle from Level 5 to immediately cure the jinx.
Goodies in this dungeon:
Map (1:18): Make your way to the room I do & kill the Patra to get the Map. To kill the Patra you must first kill all of the smaller Patra flying around it then kill the center one.
Red Ring (1:50): Get to the Map room then go up 2 screens. Kill all of the Wizzrobes in this room to move the leftmost block & go down the stairs. The Red Ring cuts the damage Link takes to 25% of what it is in Link's green tunic. It also turns Link's tunic (amongst other things) red.
Silver Arrow (4:20): Make your way to the room that is in the top left corner of the dungeon & kill all of the Wizzrobes. Move the block at the center of the right side to reveal a staircase. Go down the stairs to get the Silver Arrow. The Silver Arrow is just like regular arrows except they are necessary to defeat Gannon.
Boss Gannon (7:52): So long as you make it to him with a good amount of health then he's not really all that bad. He teleports around the room while shooting energy balls at you. He's also invisible while he does this. You must randomly swing your sword & hope you hit him. I recommend going in 1 of the corners like I do in the video. While in the corner, mash the attack button & he'll sometimes teleport close enough for you to hit him.
After you strike him 4 times (with the Magical Sword; it will take more if you have a weaker sword), Gannon will change color & be stunned temporarily. While he is like this, shoot him with a Silver Arrow & Gannon will explode into a pile of mush. Grab the Triforce of Power & go to the next room to find Princess Zelda.
Quick note: you don't have to move away from Gannon to shoot him with the arrow like I do in the video. I only did that to make it more apparent what I was actually doing to kill him.
