This particular zip in Metal Man's stage is low risk and high reward since it's pretty easy to pull off, and it helps Mega Man bypass a very tedious and annoying section with lots of traps.

About three seconds into Metal Man's level (in Mega Man 2 for NES) you'll reach a moving conveyor belt platform just above an E-Tank. Equip Item-1 and position Mega Man just to the left of the moving gears in the background above the E-Tank.

From this spot, throw an Item-1 to the right. Hop on the Item-1 platform and stand on the right edge. This platform should push Mega Man up into the ceiling. With Item-1 still equipped, tap B, then immediately tap LEFT on the D-Pad. If you did everything correct, Mega Man will be jettisoned - or "zipped" - to the right very quickly.

Mega Man will be ejected to the right past the section with the spike traps and the flying drill enemies, which is great because this section can slow you down a TON in a speedrun.

But even if you're not speedrunning, this trick is fun and cool to pull off!
