Second part of my longplay of Arena : it' been a while since I played the game ( on my Game Gear back then), but it seems that even after nearly 20 years, some reflexes remain.

Choosing the right weapon for the right situation is an important point in a shooting game, and it's even truer in this one.
_ The machine-gun : your starting weapon and apparently one you'll forget quickly, but it's wrong. The machine gun is useful for targets when speed doesn't matter, which means alone barrels as well as guards and turrets that are just out of sight so that they won't shoot back. Using the machine gun will allow you to spare precious ammo on the other weapons.
_ three-way rifle : good for groups of ennemies if you can shoot them fast enough ( otherwise, use a grenade), but its shining time is actually when you surprise a guard and get in close range. Then, one shot or two will allow you to get through.
_ the laser is the opposite of the previous weapn : narrow beam with a rapide rate of fire. The need to aim correctly means you need to attack from a fair distance so you can correct your aim if you don't move : myself, I prefer running from afar when firing to increase my accuracy by keeping my direction toward my target.
_ Ion-cannon : available only in small amount, this baby is a life-saver in some situations. When you can't run around a heavy target, for example : if a tank or a grenadier are definitely blocking you, just use this guy. Just be sure to aim correctly : you don't want to waste ammo.
_ the flamethrower : I have yet to find a use for this one. Too short range when standing, even shorter when you run. Maybe during an easy game for some fun, but never in hard.
