Excellent for tossing grenades but maybe not so much for precision shooting... $169.00 rifle stock should really, 'WOW' you right? I was a bit underwhelmed by the MAC11.

Let's start with where the MAC11 Magnetic Rifle Stock excels.

The setup and installation of this stock is hands down the best of any stock I've reviewed to date. It consists of two steps and should take you less than 5-10 minutes to be ready to go. Super simple and very quick. No complex assembly or trips to the store for oil...

DO NOT, however, listen to the instructions when it tells you to use a hammer. You will likely damage your $169 investment like I did.

Outside of that little bit of damage to the butt of the stock, this is the best looking of all my rifle stocks.

This rifle stock is also the best stock I've tested for interacting with things other than your rifle. IE Throwing a grenade, using a data pad, grabbing your sidearm... etc. The magnets easily break away and allow you to quickly drop the stock and go for whatever you need.

This, however, is a double edged sword. It also means that stability suffers. I didn't feel like the magnets or the nubs were strong/large enough to securely hold my controllers in place while quickly reacting to threats. I always felt as though the controllers were going to pop out. The connection was just too loose for me, especially on the foremost magnet that did not have any nubs. The end result is that I didn't feel as though I had as quick and precise control as I was used to with other stocks. Definitely an upgrade from free hand but not as much as I would like.

There were some tracking issues that you can see between 28:04 and 31:05. Most are small drifts and that one at the end might just be a Steam failure as it was pretty bad... Going free hand for a few rounds did eliminate any of those tracking issues I was having. My assumption is that the large cosmetic brick of plastic is occluding certain sensors and if you position yourself and the stock just right you start to get drift and wobble.

I'd also like to see an adjustable butt stock or the ability to adjust the rear hand magnet position so that the sight can be brought closer to your face. As it is now, the lack of adjustable butt to trigger hand length causes you to awkwardly adjust your head to get in the correct position to view down sights/scopes. This isn't the end of the world just another trade off, this time for ease of setup.

The sling mount position and the sling itself were pretty terrible. The stock did not rest across my body how I would expect it to and the way that it did typically lay across my body was the most inconvenient for getting the controllers mounted again. This will take some time to build muscle memory for and will eventually become something most do without thinking. It could have been a lot better though.

The last thing I'll mention is pretty minor but something to consider. If you have multiple controllers and often find yourself swapping out for fresh batteries and staying in headset for extended periods of time, you'll need to uninstall and reinstall the controller mounted magnets each time you want to swap out or not use your controllers. This wont impact everyone and it wont bother all of those it does impact but I felt it was worth mentioning. Especially as I did have my batteries die while testing. I opted to take a quick break and let them recharge rather than swap out for my covered pair of controllers as the controller magnets would pinch or get in the way of the cover.

So, what's the final verdict?

I will likely not be using the MAC11 after this review. I don't outright, not recommend it though. It doesn't suit my taste. I prioritize stability over everything else when it comes to my rifle stocks. I do like the ease of disconnecting the controllers but not enough to feel like they're going to pop out all the time.

That being said. If you find yourself throwing grenades more often than the guy next to you or you frequently play a game that's more than just shooting a rifle and you interact with the world a lot. This is a better choice than other stocks that don't handle the transition to freehand as smoothly.
