In this video I play the original Macintosh Uninvited and compare to the NES version I grew up with.

There were some pretty interesting differences but overall, the NES had really good music and was much more forgiving. It also explained its puzzles a bit better. I thought I would appreciate the mouse control on the Macintosh better but there were two things that bothered me. One, if I wanted to move from place to place quickly, I still had to click "Move" before I chose a direction every time. Two, many of the objects were very small or narrow, making them hard to click on. Several times in this playthrough I died because of a User Interface problem and believe me, that got old real quick.

Overall, it was really fun to explore the original game, but if you're a new player wanting to try Uninvited out, I recommend the NES version. (Also, go play it before watching my videos, so nothing gets spoiled.)
