Two years ago, I introduced the 3D audio world to Silden, Poland's finest game developer. In that description, I teased the release of a demonstration of their FPS masterpiece "Manhunter". Unfortunately, I was offered some of that delicious influencer bribe money to put out a Spider-Man 2 video in 2022 to cross-promote No Way Home. Not that I even saw the money, mind you. Turns out there's another Spider-Man 2, and it's by Insomniac?
Anyway, I might've failed my loyal fanbase of 5 people last year, but I'm making up for it on this game's 10th year anniversary. This is Manhunter with OpenAL Soft's HRTF [IRC_1037 tables] through DSOAL. Perhaps best known for its slanderous appearance on Funhaus, Manhunter is a 2013 FPS title that redefines the modern warfare genre. You play as John "Striker" Gullivan, a former SAS soldier who's the best sniper in the world. How do we know this?
Because he brings not one, but TWO sniper rifles with him on a mission.
Manhunter is truly a work of art. The story is more gripping and ambiguous than Spec Ops: The Line. The parkour-based gameplay is leaps and bounds above Dying Light. The Argon engine is so powerful, your GPU can't even render its immense graphical details until you're right on top of them. Like Citizen Kane in its day, Manhunter was shut down by The Man before it could achieve widespread commercial recognition. Even now, I had to use an obscure "Analyze Wait Chain" workaround just to get it running:
