MARDEK is a retro-inspired RPG set in a lore-heavy world that blends together fantasy and sci-fi. Its initially lighthearted story soon evolves into a deeper exploration of moral ambiguity, told through a whole lot of dialogue both thought-provoking and ridiculously silly.

I am playing the Nineveh Mod, a fan-made mod that retools the game, adding new skills and equipment, tweaking enemies and generally sprucing up a lot of graphical elements.

Animus has had some extensive changes, now no longer having that weakness to Fig, but having high resists across the board. It is still weaker to Thauma, Dark and Fig than other elements though, and don't be a fool like me and use a Light attack to heal it for 4K. That was silly!

Elwyen's Runic Rhapsody and high Aether resist still kinda smash this fight way open, 60% on the whole party and a SPR build on Elwyen made it hard for Animus to really dent my team. It's supposed to soften the party up with Soulstorms and pick them off with its other attacks, but that didn't exactly happen. It's important to note that its attacks all have a chance to dispel your statuses, but it won't outright use Delay Buster or Shatterwave, so that does make a difference.

It'll swap between high DEF and MDEF as a reaction, too, so you want to bring both types of offense. I took Donovan and Zach since they can ignore DEF and MDEF, bypassing the whole gimmick. They also just get high damage on their specific elements, Air and Fire, which is good sine you don't need elemental diversity like with Karnos.

AFAIK the boss doesn't use Nulls, Shields or Regen, nor does it use status. The worst is does is lower the party's stats, so bringing a bundle of the VIT/STR/SPR boosting potions from Gloria's cauldron is a good idea, you can just buy the Essences from Aeropolis and should have a lot of Monster Fangs, Crystal Tears and Potted Cacti to make them.
