"Mario Bros." for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is a classic arcade-style platformer released in 1983 by Nintendo. While often overshadowed by its iconic sequel, "Super Mario Bros.," this game laid the foundation for the beloved franchise and introduced the world to the iconic character, Mario.

In "Mario Bros.," players control Mario (or his brother, Luigi, in two-player mode) as they navigate through a series of single-screen levels filled with pipes, platforms, and various enemies. The objective is to defeat all the enemies on each level by jumping underneath the platforms, hitting them from below, and then kicking them off the screen. Once all enemies are defeated, players advance to the next, more challenging level.

The game's simplicity, tight controls, and cooperative multiplayer mode (where players can work together or compete) made it a hit in arcades and later on the NES. "Mario Bros." also introduced several iconic elements, including the first appearance of the turtle-like Koopa Troopas and the ability to earn extra lives.

While "Mario Bros." may not have the depth or sprawling levels of its successors, it remains an important part of gaming history and a fun, nostalgic experience for fans of classic platformers and the enduring Mario franchise.
